Ok, I've never met anyone who likes cleaning their oven. It's a chore.
However it doesn't have to be a difficult one. It doesn't have to require strong stinky chemicals, and it can be done plastic free too!

With simple Bicarbonate of soda.
Simply make a paste with some water spread all over your oven.
Leave it on for as long as you can. And wipe off.

It's gentle abrasive action won't damage your oven or glass but will help get off any stubborn grease and grime.

Are you and you family looking for activities that don't cost the earth? Here are 4 great ideas:

🌱 We love walking our German Shepherd around the local countryside and have discovered many new areas over the last year or so. Why not try exploring your local community. How knows what treasures you will find.
🌱Over the last couple of years, our girls have really started to enjoy cycling. It really started in lockdown when our eldest helped me "do up" our old bikes so they were usable again. It was great to have her involved in this and it didn't take long at all. We now regularly go out and explore on our bikes.
🌱There are many community tree planting projects going on up and down the country. Last year we got involved with our local parish council to plant a new hedge around the village playing field. This took part over a couple of weekends and the children really enjoyed it.
🌱Grow your own produce. There is nothing better than eating food you have grown yourself and is something that everyone can get involved in regardless of space available. You can even grow some kitchen herbs in a window box if you have no outside space at all.

Hopefully this has given you a few ideas. We would love to hear some other suggestions and pictures.

Windows + sticky small people + rain + birds...they're not always as clean as we'd like.
However a really simple way to keep them clean inside and out is with White Vinegar.

You can dilute it 50:50 with water or use neat for more stubborn dirt. Spray on, and wipe off with a dry cloth for streak free, clean windows.
Even better if you live in a hard water area and find yourself battling the 'white dots' that water can leave behind.

White Vinegar is non toxic, and the slight vinegary smell doesn't hang around more than a few moments.

A product that is award winningly brilliant, and yet hassle free and simple (at least for us end users!)

We all know that wildlife faces ever increasing threats and habitat loss is amongst the greatest of these. With these Seedballs it couldn’t be simple to bring some of that habitat back, whether its in a flowerbed a small corner of your garden or just a couple of pots/containers.

Why are they so effective?

Each Seedball contains a mini ecosystem. Seeds are mixed with clay, peat-free compost and a smidgen of chilli powder. The balls are about 1cm in diameter which makes them super easy to scatter.

The clay acts as a defensive barrier from birds, ants and mice who might otherwise eat the seeds, but the seeds are able to break out once they germinate. The chilli powder also helps to deter seed predators whilst the ball degrades.

They also make great gifts, even for those who are not green fingered, because they are so simple and yet bring so much in terms of beauty, colour and wildlife. (much better than cellophane wrapped flowers)

Quite often we will do a litter pick in our local

Quite often we will do a litter pick in our local community and just recently we cleared a stretch of road of waste over the period of a week. This took us about 20 minutes a day and was done whilst walking our German Shepherd.

I was amazed (in a bad way) at just how many cans had been discarded out of car/van windows. We collected 3 full bin bags worth of cans that we emptied into our own recycling bin.

There must have been around 200 or so! That's enough recycling to power a TV for 600 hours - that's nearly a full month.

Why not do your own litter pick in your community. You would be amazed at the rubbish you will find even in half an hour.
